Welcome viewers! Lee here with the first ever Kickback Report! What is it you say? To put it lightly, Kickstarter is a bit of a hobby for me. But honestly, it's quite the full blown obsession. Something about getting to see all the amazing ideas and dreams people have along with having the chance to help them achieve them just strikes me as incredibly awesome. I love being a part of the project and watching their development. So I'd like to pass this on to all of you and keep you informed of some of the most excellent Kickstarters out there. So read on and enjoy!
Code Monkey Save World
Now then. Remember all of those cool and interesting characters he brought to life in his songs? Imagine if a graphic novel was created featuring a universe where all of those characters reside within. Well that's exactly what this amazing kickstarter is all about.
Neat little story too about this project, this entire idea came about on Twitter when veteran comic creator Greg Pak mentioned how cool it would be to make comic book characters out of these songs. Jonathan Coulton then dared him to do it.
And the rest is history.
It's already way above it's goal and rising so there is no worry that it won't be funded, and I seriously doubt any chance of it failing afterward. As an added bonus they are added more and more stretch goals, so there is all kinds of awesome rewards to be had. So if you love amazing comics and Coulton's fantastic songs, jump on board before this one ends.
Among The Sleep
As a child though, most only needed to just hear a creaking door or moving shadow to terrify them. No crazy Lovecraftian monster spurting blood on everything. No demons shooting exploding out of people's chests.
That simple sort of fear is what Among The Sleep is trying to tap into, because that is what the game is all about. You playing the part of a child trying to navigate the dark hiding from the boogie man, essentially. No special powers or equipment. Just you seeing the world though the eyes of a two year old. From the look of it you start out making your way through your family home at night, but eventually tumbling down the rabbit hole to explore a 'dreamland' of sorts.
This kickstarter has not hit it's funding goal yet, but it's close and has plenty of time to get there. It's also gotten the thumbs up from some big gaming celebs such as Cliff Bleszinski and Peter Molydeux. As well as toting that it's confirming support for the Oculus Rift, which should add a whole new level of terror to the game. So I have little doubt that it won't be fully funded.
So if you are a fan of horror games and/or neat indie games, this project is for you.
