Welcome viewers! Lee here with a new Kickback Report! What is it you say? To put it lightly, Kickstarter is a bit of a hobby for me. But honestly, it's quite the full blown obsession. Something about getting to see all the amazing ideas and dreams people have along with having the chance to help them achieve them just strikes me as incredibly awesome. I love being a part of the project and watching their development. So I'd like to pass this on to all of you and keep you informed of some of the most excellent Kickstarters out there. So read on and enjoy!
So luckily I stumbled upon this kickstarter right before it finished up, because it combines all of these things and more!
Stonehearth is a game where you lead a band of settlers into the wilderness to start your own little village and build it into an empire. You build homes, construct public buildings, create supply lines, set up defenses, and face constant challenges as you grow your city.
It also features realtime RPG-y combat, craftable equipment, procedurally generated terrain, and 'modules' scattered all over that are special adventures/events that you can tackle. Even more awesome is the fact that you will be given the tools to create your own content. People, items, modules, buildings, and everything else that you can then upload and share with the rest of the community.
Even though getting my hands on the beta won't happen til the end of the year, I am super excited to see this game take shape and play it. Check it out and jump on board soon, because you only have a little over a day to do so!
Ugli Studios Presents #2
I was originally introduced to this series a long while ago when a copy of Ugli Studios Presents #1 found it's way to my hands through a family member that works with one of the creators. I ripped through it quickly and was sad to see it end, but was glad to have found it.
Fast forward the Sci-Fi Valley Con two-ish weeks ago as I was finally getting a chance to check out the other tables, that I stumbled across one with a ton of familiar artwork. After a quick introduction and saying how I got a copy of the first volume, I got to chat with Jason Lenox about the new anthology, the Kickstarter for it, and got to see the original pages of the story he did the art for. Which was freaking awesome. We even had him over at the Gearbox Union table to check out all our ridiculousness.
The stories featured within range from a good old fashioned western of the brutal volence that break out when a land deal goes wrong in a small town in 1850, a dark and humorous alien adventure of a slave's final attempt to delivers a strange package to the center of a spaceship, and a bloody scifi thriller of what happens when a mass murderer clones himself that would make Darwin smile. They all have their own unique look and feel thanks to a different artist behind each one of them.
So! Check out these guys and their Kickstarter, they have some great rewards and you won't be disappointed. And! They'll be at table 2225 at Wizard World Philadelphia from May 30- Jun 2 at the Philadelphia Convention Center, so if you're going stop by and say hello!
