If you're friends with me, then you'd know that this app is helpful as I'm rarely on time to anything.
Glympse is a free app written by Share Your Where and is available on Android and iOS. This app allows you to share your location with your friends for a specified amount of time regardless of whether they have Glympse installed or not. One example of where this app would be helpful is when you're supposed to meet someone at a specified time and at a specified location. For instance, I tell my friend Jodi that I will be leaving to pick her up in 10 minutes. Along side the text message I send, I can attach a Glympse which gives Jodi my current location and route taken on a map, as well as my current speed. I can also choose how long Jodi is allowed to see my location. I'll show an example of this below.
Jodi: "Joe can you come pick me up?"
Joe: "Sure. I'll be leaving soon"
This is where I'd send Jodi a Glympse. To do so is extremely easy. Simply open Glympse and choose "Send Glimpse." From here you choose recipients from your local phonebook, the amount of time that they're allowed to follow you (15 minutes by default or up to 4 hours), a message to go along with the Glympse, and even a destination.
For this scenario, I'd pick Jodi as my recipient, tell Glympse to watch me for 30 minutes, and add a message that says "On my way." I then send the message to Jodi.
Jodi receives a message that shows the custom text I entered as well as a hyperlink to my Glympse. That's the beauty of Glympse; the recipient does not need to have Glympse installed to view your location or message. It opens it all in a web browser.
Here's an example of what Jodi would see (Jodi has an iPhone 5):
Due to Glympse's handiness, functionality, cross-platform integration, and overall look, I give it:
